Elevated Oases
Southern Arizona is dotted with many spectacular mountain ranges, surrounded by vast expanses of desert. The peaks of these mountain ranges serve as oases in the desert where cool, wet conditions predominate. These isolated, highland habitats also act as stepping stones for mountain adapted species, bridging floras of the mountains of Canada and the United States with those in Mexico. Come explore the changes in conditions and species as we ascend from desert to snow covered peaks. (run time - 21 min. 55 sec.)
