California's Riches
Mediterranean climate zones are areas of high plant biodiversity, and California is no exception. From the foggy redwood forests that hug the coast to the arid grasslands which rest at the bottom of the Central Valley, California is a mosaic of starkly different habitats. This variation is in part do to the waning influence of the Pacific ocean as air moves from a cold sea, heating over successive mountains and valleys. It is the spectrum of conditions across this landscape that provides enough variation to support the rich flora. Come explore the biodiversity hiding within the beautiful scenery from the wave battered shores of the Pacific through cool mountain forest and on into dry valley grasslands.
